Our Clinicians
Valencia Adams
Director & Founder
I am a Psychotherapist, Mental Health Social Worker and Medicare Provider who applies a holistic perspective to encourage clients across the lifespan, to navigate everyday life with greater confidence. I founded New Heights Therapy to create a safe, respectful environment — free from bias and assumptions — for both clients and staff. Through my neuroaffirming practice with children and families, I draw on a strengths-based approach to encourage independence, build social skills, and expand their window of tolerance for more effective emotional regulation. I understand the challenges clients face in everyday relationships — including power imbalances, parenting pressures, relationship breakdown, and ineffective communication. By helping clients recognise unhelpful patterns, take accountability, and build practical strategies, I aim to empower each person to realise their own capacity for change. I use evidence-based approaches such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) alongside Trauma Focused CBT to support clients experiencing trauma, complex PTSD, and other trauma-related presentations. These help clients process distressing experiences and reduce ongoing impacts of trauma on daily life. I also provide psychological treatment for eating disorders, supporting clients to develop a healthier relationship with food, body image, and their sense of self. I support all clients by offering a professional, structured, and non-judgmental space to engage meaningfully with the therapeutic process.
Michael Kerr
Psychologist
I am a dedicated and compassionate Consultant Psychologist who is passionate about building strong therapeutic relationships and supporting individuals through life's challenges. My interest in human connection and working collaboratively with people is what inspired me to pursue a career in psychology. I firmly believe that everyone deserves access to mental health care and the support needed to navigate difficult periods in their lives. I work with a diverse range of clients, including children, and am committed to creating a safe, respectful, and empathetic therapeutic environment. I place great importance on developing trust and fostering a collaborative relationship with each client to support meaningful change and personal growth. I have extensive experience working with neurodivergent clients and a particular interest in neuroinclusive practice. I also have a strong focus on male mental health and wellbeing. I am passionate about supporting men and boys to engage with their mental health and continue to expand my skills and knowledge in this area. Through my training, education and experience I have developed a strong foundation in a range of therapeutic approaches, and take an individualised approach to therapy, tailoring interventions to suit each client's unique needs and goals. I am also competent across a variety of psychological assessments including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder assessments, Autism assessments, Cognitive assessments, personality assessments and behavioural assessments.
Andreea Preda
Psychologist
I was born in Romania and moved to Spain where I studied to become a psychologist. While working as a psycho-oncologist in Spain, I learnt that hope and resilience can be built even in life's most adverse moments of pain and grief. I then studied at Monash University in Australia and embraced my new role as a general psychologist in private practice with the knowledge that moving countries does not mean necessarily "starting over" but "to be continued" as well. I am multilingual and proficient in English, Spanish and Romanian, which has greatly assisted me in fostering therapeutic relationships with clients from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. My approach is empathetic, enthusiastic, non-judgemental and focussed on facilitating growth. I am passionate about women's mental health especially in the perinatal period from conception through to 12 months post-birth. This includes general mental health as well as maternal mental health, mother-infant relationship and infant well-being. I work with a variety of clients across their lifespan including child, adolescent and adult presentations of neurodivergence.
Lauryn D'Souza
Provisional Psychologist
I am a Provisional Psychologist who works closely with clients of all ages, providing a safe and supportive environment to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences. I adopt a person-centred approach, working with each individual to understand their specific circumstances and co-create strategies that address their distinct needs. I value providing practical skills, psychoeducation, and insights to support positive change, whether that involves managing stress, improving emotional regulation, or navigating life's challenges. My approach focuses on recognising strengths, building resilience, and fostering wellbeing in ways that are meaningful and achievable. I conduct ADHD and Cognitive assessments and provide therapy to children and teenagers diagnosed with ADHD and ASD, supporting them and their families with evidence-based interventions tailored to each child's unique profile and needs. I also work with children and adolescents navigating the challenges of family separation, parental conflict, interpersonal conflict, and peer pressure, providing a safe and supportive space to process their experiences, build confidence, and develop emotional resilience.
